And a perfect 10 from the French judge....

I got hurt at work last Friday.

One of my co-workers started the water to fill the whirlpool tank and then left the department to go treat patients up on the floor. They called down and asked me to go shut the water off for them. Not knowing that the tank had been filling as long as it had, I said "Sure, I'd be happy to turn the water off for you."

I calmly walked over to the tank room, only to find the tank half an inch away from overflowing. (It apparently had been filling for almost an hour.) And of course, my natural instinct was to rush in and turn the water off before it overflowed the tank. With my attention firmly on turning off the water before we had a flood I didn't see was the humongous puddle that had accumulated on the floor around the tank. So as you can imagine; I rushed into the room, slipped on the puddle and went down in a move guaranteed to win a gold medal in figure skating.

So, as a result of my graceful fall, I ended up spending 3 hours in the ER. 6 x-rays, a large bruise, lots of swelling, and an ace wrap later, I was released with a diagnosis of knee strain and re-aggravating the injury that I got in a car accident a couple years ago. Due to the fact that the other secretary was still on vacation and I was the only one covering the office, losing 3 hours because of someone else's stupidity didn't make me a happy camper.

Now 5 days later, the knee is still extremely sore. The swelling is mostly gone. And the bruise has gone technicolor black, blue, yellow, and green. What aggravates me most is that I can't exercise as I want to. I can handle the pain and got overtime due to coming in on a day off to make up the time I spent in the ER, but as of this point I still can't do more than one mile without extreme pain and causing the knee to swell up. I normally do at least 2 to 3 miles a day.

On a positive note, The Stanley cup playoffs have been exciting. In round 2, My favorite team (The Red Wings) are up 3-0 vs the Colorado Aves. Yea Team! And I will even admit that the referees are being fair. (A.K.A. They're being sucky to both teams.) Game 4 is tomorrow evening. I can't hardly wait.

I'm also participating in a Walk for Celiac Disease. My team's goal is to raise $50 (or more) in the fight against Celiac. If you're interested in helping me out, you can go to http://celiacwalk.org/ , look for the sponsor participant (on the left in the middle) and enter my name (Joelle.)

I hope you have a good rest of the day. I'm gonna go do as much exercise as I can and then try to go to bed early. It's gonna be a long night tomorrow with the Wings and Aves game starting at 10:00 PM.
