Suicidal squirrels, Chinese warriors, and Tuesday's rambling...

Nature is graceful. Even with its violent outbursts (tornado's, earthquakes, volcano's, etc..) there is always an underlying grace and fluidity of movement. However, there are times when the grace far out weighs the intelligence. While treking out to an off site office this morning to take pictures for the staff directory, I observed a squirrel frolicking in the road. It then made a mad dash to reach the other side when a passing vehicle startled it. However the afore mention squirrel slammed head first into the rear tire of an approaching car. If the dang thing would have waited a second longer it would have survived. But alas, it didn't.

The good news of the day was that the first signs of spring have finally arrived. The first fly of the year has invaded my apartment, the parking lot is covered with worms, and the temperature finally broke the 50 degree mark. (Though it was snowing again by 10:30 this morning.) Last night's rain storm helped me to get the best night of sleep that I've gotten in a long time. It was so good in fact that I hit the snooze button twice on all 4 alarm clocks this morning. Work was steady busy but ok. The local schools are on spring break this week, so we're enjoying a little slower week than normal. There were alot of strange phone calls though.

After work I went to the butterfly exhibit and then to the Chinese exhibit at the Center for the Arts. The butterflies were the same old same old. Once you've seen one you've seen them all. I spent an hour there and got a couple good pictures. The Chinese exhibit was much more interesting. As I mentioned before, I love history so it was a special treat to see the warriors and the other artifacts in person. Strange thought thou, I expected the warriors to be bigger. They stood only slightly taller than my 5 foot 3 inches. They had very intricate details and were surprisingly life like. I made a pass through the grossology exhibit. I'm glad that I didn't try to take Leah to that. I would have been way over her 2 year old little head. Don't get me wrong it was good, but not something that I'd normally visit.

Well gang, I'm off to go exercise. Here are a couple of the pictures that I got today. I hope you like them.
