"It's a world of laughter A world of tears It's a world of hopes And a world of fears There's so much that we share That it's time we're aware It's a small world after all..."
I was quasi listening to the radio this morning at work. Normally, It's just white noise. It's on in the background, but other than the weather not really listened to. But today, it happened to be a slower morning and my brain relaxed enough to actually listen to what the morning show dj's were talking about.
They read an email that they had received from a young single guy (Chris) who wanted some help from the listeners. He wrote that he had moved to Michigan 2 years ago and couldn't find a dating relationship. He went on to describe himself and what he did when he took a girl out on a date and wondered why he rarely if ever got further than the first date. Out of 37 dates that he's been on, Chris wrote, hes only ever had 2 second dates and never a third.
There were the predictable responses from women thinking he was perfect and offering their numbers to the guy. A few women who thought his problem was that he was too nice. And finally, some guys who felt they were in the same boat. (The women in the office wanted to smack the guy who called in to say "date the ugly ones, they do have the better personalities...")
But what gave me the biggest laugh was the fact that I recognized one of the guys who called in to commiserate with the email guy. This guy (Dale) called and said that he's been divorced for "a while" and can't get any further than the first date. Well as it turns out, Dale happens to be the ex-husband of one of my co-workers. That's why I recognized him when he called in. According to her, he was non supportive, verbally abusive, and an all around schmuck. Granted, I only had her side of the story. And, she was running around on him for a while before their divorce was final.
Tomorrow's show is now going to be about matchmaking for Chris, Dale, and all the other people who called in. The dj's decided to make a show to try to hook up all the single people in their listeners. I can't wait to hear what Dale has to say on that show. I wonder if my co-worker (who was off today) heard him on the radio. I can just see the drama if she calls into the show and goes off about her opinion of him and their relationship.
Well gang, It's a small world after all. Enjoy it while you can. See ya'll later, Reffie
