The sky is falling, the sky is falling...
We all know the story of Chicken little. One day Chicken Little was walking in the woods when — KERPLUNK — an acorn fell on her head "Oh my goodness!" said Chicken Little. "The sky is falling! The sky is falling!"

Well, today the sky was falling in my little world. Literally! The day started out like a normal Monday morning. I was running behind schedule, I forgot my phone at home, and walked into the typical post weekend mess at work. I started into my daily routine and settled into my day.
Then suddenly, the sky began to fall. Little pieces of ceiling rained down upon me and my desk. Now, they are doing expansion construction at the hospital where I work at. And as of this morning it included the roof above my desk. At first it was little more than dust with pencil lead sized pieces of ceiling falling. Then it progressed to pea sized pieces. When it became dime sized pieces of rocks, I called maintenance. The conversation went similar to this.
Me: "Um, The sky is falling on my desk."
Maintenance: (after pause) "The sky is falling?"
Me: "Yeah, the work that they are doing on the roof is causing pieces of ceiling to fall onto my desk. The sky is falling."
Maintenance: "Ok, we'll get someone right on that." (followed by a snicker.)
It was really kinda funny as throughout the day you'd hear hammers and pounding, then the pieces of ceiling raining down. Hammer... hammer... clink clink. Even the patients were commenting on it. "Is that the ceiling falling down on you?" "Shouldn't you be wearing a hard hat or something?" My response was "I called maintenance, they've got someone working on that." (As I dodged yet another piece of the sky.)
Because it was still raining larger pieces after my lunch hour, I placed yet another call to maintenance. This time I got their answering machine. My message went like this. "Um, this is Joelle from Rehab Services again. The sky is still falling on my head. The pieces are getting bigger. Any idea when they might be finished working up there?" I still hadn't heard back from them when I left. Hopefully they will have everything finished up tomorrow. That the entire ceiling wont fall on my head suddenly during the day.
I'm off to party with Goosey Loosey, Turkey Lurkey, & Foxy Loxy. See ya'll next time.
